Don you think it is too early to judge Chelsea's performance from the first game they played for the season, and we all know it was a game played against the strongest team in the premier league. If Chelsea had played their game with any random premier league and they failed to win then we can quickly express the dissapointment.
I was surprised that the dominance was equal in the match. With what Chelsea played yesterday against Manchester City, I still have hope in them. I believe something good can still come out of them, but it’s just going to take some time. I will say Chelsea lacks strikers, which is one of the things affecting them. Chelsea had chances yesterday but no good finisher to finish it for them. Enzo Maresca should have just started sterling in the match, and I don’t really like the idea of Enzo making unnecessary substitutions in the second half of the match.
Although Chelsea lost, at least the dominance in terms of ball possession was quite thin. Chelsea only weakness is in the front line which is not sharp while the rest is quite good, because Manchester City is considered more prepared on the field. Enzo Maresca must continue to try his best in his first season. Considering the fate of previous Chelsea coaches, they were always easily fired if they failed to satisfy Chelsea top brass. Because this is still early in the season, let's give him time to improve and choose the right players. Enzo Maresca task is quite heavy where in every match, besides being required to win, he also rotates several players which will change the stability of the game every time he enters a new player.
What is discovered in my observations of what happened in that last weekend game for Chelsea is that, the club need more motivation, because from the beginning to the end of the game, Chelsea ball possession was very weak, and that is why, their could not mentain or control all the attempts that they got in the game, and for some reason may be Chelsea was intimidated by the character and person of Manchester City who's tack record of success have ignite the fear in them, to the point of losing our in the match.
For sure I wasn't expecting them to win or even draw the match since for a fact there is no way possible for that to happen, but to their best they have done what they could and losing the very early match to a big club is somehow not too painful for Chelsea.
