Cryptocurrency is quite broad and vague
Are you talking About Bitcoin or Altcoins?
Bitcoin is rarely, I mean rarely used as a means of payment in my country
Despite that I have used it but on very rare occasions.
Not a fan of using my Bitcoin except there's quite a need to.
But I doubt many use Bitcoin on their everyday life payment via a Non custodial wallet due to scalabilty, Fee, and degree of acceptance as a means of payment.

I use it every day, and I live in Spain; you just got to find a crypto card provider and then deposit load your card with Bitcoin. You pay everywhere you want, buy things online, connect it to Apple Pay even, and spend it in restaurants, supermarkets, or whatever you need. I have used plasbit euro virtual card for years and I have been practically off the grid since 2020. It's 2024 bro, you can live on Bitcoin and nobody will even know..

I said: (on chain, non-custodial) - You are NOT using Bitcoin  Wink You think you are off the grid but actually using FIAT like everyone else while paying much more fees in the process  Grin
Okay with this I can tell you mean Bitcoin.
It would be better to use Bitcoin in the topic rather than cryptocurrency and I do agree with your above point.
Your information was provided before you started using their service
So definitely still under the radar of the government.
