Paying directly for something with BTC is very rare, but indirectly I pay for everything with crypto debit cards and gift cards from Bitrefill and The Bitcoin Company.
Even the few merchants that accept crypto payments are mostly using processors like BitPay and Coinbase Commerce which automatically convert everything to fiat. If you are trying to live entirely off crypto then you will just have to deal with these workarounds to make the best use of your cryptocurrency until it becomes widely adopted enough to where you can pay for everything directly from your non-custodial wallet.
