it's probably for the dramatic effect and to make himself look like a damsel in distress for being "suppressed" by the forum because of his views.

are you 100% certain that the mods are the ones removing the posts? I mean, as you said, the thread is self-moderated, meaning the person who created the thread can moderate it.
