There are many social media that provide convenience for people to develop their own business independently because they can do promotions in it.
There are positive and negative sides to it, depending on how people use it and if misused it will have a bad impact.

Before promotion, it was the social media first. And I think it was during the pandemic times, is the responsible for the growth of them because people are mostly staying indoors and social media is mostly the ones that they are using to communicate, do business, and entertained theirselves.

The internet and social media isn't a new thing anymore, so I won't use them as an indication to tell that the times had progressed. But anyways, even without them, the time can still progress on its own. We can rather say that technology have already gone a long way. The internet is one of it of course and had a major contribution in the tech world. I won't be biased and say that each of them can only offer a pure convenience but they still have their own disadvantages.

As for the internet, obviously we can't use it if the cell sites or towers have been damaged or there was a problem with it. Another thing is if there is a brownout. AFAIK Telegram doesn't have a dedicated exchange and wallet, though these could be possible within their app and with the help of some API's. Telegram is decentralized and this makes the illegal activities happen, so this is not their fault.
