I've seen some users who got tagged as spammers (even if it's just neutral tags) and I believe nothing is permanent you know? There's always a chance they can improve their posting style and be more engaging here.

With the efforts of DT members and mods keeping the forum clean and the competent signature campaign managers who don't just accept anyone anymore I think low-quality posters are starting to realize they need to step up their game. What's your take on this? Can they change or is a spammer always a spammer for life?
Anyone can change regardless of whether they are forced to change or do it willingly, this is the reason many systems are put together on the forum to ensure good quality posting. No one would want their profile to tarnish, though they never realised this, they just registered on this forum with the view that they would spam with low-quality posts like many other forums. But they get to realise this on getting here and if they can't change, they are free to leave, but if they can change why not?

However, if I am a DT member and discovered a spammer, I would personally warn the spammer first (I doubt if those given the privilege to wield that stick do that). It's after this that I can tag the user but will also continue to monitor such for months. I will gladly remove the tag if he changes for good, after all, it's all about improvement and changes.

And yes, I've some users improving significantly over time.
