Didn't you even ask yourself why a country full of deserts would have an intention to bring sports and people in while they can leverage so many other things with their money? Ronaldo doesn't get criticized because he takes money. It is because he legitimizes a regime that is highly problematic to say the least. Sports and politics go hand in hand as we have seen in Qatar. It keeps going and when people like Ronaldo decide to throw morals overboard and then claim that they are all for the dialogue and not for the money, then things become ridiculous and they lose sight of reality.
