In my opinion, this is not a good practice, and I would even say that it is short-sighted when a project communicates with the community only in one social network while abandoning other sources of communication. This leave some thoughts that they don't have enough personnel working for their communication side. Since if they have enough people to handle their thread or other source which their presence is important. But guess they let people to talk about may things about them and guess that they didn't bother to answer those concerns of people that's why somehow people got disappoint in that side.
Maybe if they are active communicating here then provably that the scenario will be different since some people want to see some activities made by their representative. But guess they don't have anything to update and they let this thread unattended. I also notice that they go active only when they have running campaign here. So maybe they go active again when they launch their signature campaign.
