As a pastor most expecially in this part of the world where  churches and mosque are everywhere, what's the maximum amount of time you spend in the Church or mosque per week? It's usually less than 30% of your time and what then happens to the remaining time? will you sit back and wait for church members to bring food to your table when you could also sit back in your office and do some analysis and get a good amount of money? It's totally understandable if trading is not your thing but regardless, staying idle should be out of the equation because even the Bible you believe in warn against idleness and any thing of it kind.

The only thing I feel it's inappropriate that a pastor should be found doing is engaging in gambling. The reason why I'm against it and feel it's not appropriate is that it's clearly spelt out that gambling is not a thing for Christians and considering how addictive it can be, it's only best that it never be seen among them.

I like how you put things clearly bro. I never comot for naija before and I cannot tell whether na like this e dey for outside. The rate at which our so called man of God dey rely on congregation contributions to survive is very alarming to be honest with ourselves. Hardly, you will see a pastor with another side hustle, they completely rely on tithe and offering from church members. What will happen if your church members decide to change church or stop giving tithe? I like how some of us refuse to be brainwashed with their normal "sow seed" scope to collect money from our hand. It's high time they get to know that pastor is not a job and there's nothing wrong in finding alternative side hustle.

Let put aside gambling since there's a lot of controversies surrounding it. I never come across a verse in Bible that forbid gambling thou but that's not what we want to discuss now. Trading is a good alternative if he can endure because at your comfort of your room you can be making some money with just your right tools. Time management is the only thing he needs so trading should not conflict or distract him from delivering church service. I believe the risky part of it will be explained to him in details by any trainer he meets.
