I will buy shares of Microsoft so I can vote yes to the bitcoin proposal. I suggest every bitcoiner do the same if possible and even better if you already own shares of the company. One share of common stock is equal to one vote so you don't have to own a lot of shares to be elgible to vote but I don't know how long you have to be a shareholder if the vote is being held in less than two months on December 10.

I think the chances of approval are not very high but you never know. Of course it would be beyond massive for bitcoin if they voted yes.

The big shareholders are the ones, who will decide the outcome of the vote. Buying 100 shares, so you could have 100 votes won't change anything. Also, buying Microsoft shares, just because you want to vote on such proposal seems stupid to me. You should by Microsoft stocks, if you are convinced in the long term growth of the stock price and the potential dividends, that the company might pay off to the shareholders.  I don't believe that Microsoft would ever become a crypto friendly company, even if the majority of the shareholders want this.

Why can't they be a crypto friendly company? And they don't have to be a crypto-friendly company to invest in bitcoin. After all, they are investors so all they care about is profit. They don't have to be friendly or like it but as long as it can be profitable I think they will consider it. As OP provided, Backrock is the 2nd largest shareholder of Microsoft so I think they will have a significant impact on the vote.

But I also disagree with OP's idea that we buy Microsoft stock just for voting purposes. I don't see this as anything to do with us, it's their internal matter and whether they invest in bitcoin or not is their own decision. They will consider based on their interests, not ours. We don't benefit from this so we don't need to worry about it too much, what we should focus on is how much bitcoin we own, not which institutions invest in bitcoin and how much bitcoin they hold.
