Gambling addiction may be less likely to occur when you are mature enough in age as you have an environment of your own and are responsible for all the functions including maintaining the family. Gambling should be seen as a means of fun and entertainment without wasting extra time and money. Gambling with colleagues can be more positive for you as not all of them should be addicted and it can help you become more aware.
Keeping yourself away from gambling shouldn't take away your chances of real success as a form of entertainment you should have in your life. However, the allocation of time and money to protect yourself from addiction should be limited.
Addiction cannot be related to how mature a person is, or has family responsibilities like the ones you mentioned above, in fact there are still many people who already have responsibilities towards their families, they still gamble even though they have previously lost money from there. There is nothing positive in gambling activities even if we play with colleagues
What do you mean by being able to help you become more aware? Before we play of course we can think with common sense, activities like this could affect or reduce your money so there's no need for you to play with colleagues and then realize, in my opinion that's something stupid.
