The reason could be due to the anti smoking adverts like "smoking is dangerous to health" and "smokers are liable to die young", also we don't see cigarette adverts anyone.

Even they have see the warning messages or picture of the disease caused by smoking, they don't give a fuck about it.
If they see a message "smokers are liable to die young", they will counter it by saying "my grandfather is a heavy smoker and he turns 95 years old now, actually his doctor that discourage to smoke die at 60 years old."
Smoking in many countries is like a culture and to build to relationship.
Moreover, I have tried regular cigarettes and I did not like the taste and smell of them, but with flavored e-cigarettes, sometimes I even think about buy it, because I like how melon, banana smoke smells...
