Refreshing your session either you are in the winning side or in the losing will keeps you away from exceeding to your set limitation, as long as you are capable to control your emotion you have a good glimpse of preventing yourself getting addicted, it's always your choice and your own will that's why most of those who got addicted are people who unable to think clearly those who intend to win more but unfortunately they end up losing as they can't control their own greed.

I do experience loss often times but I try to reduce my gambling bets once my the frequency of my loss is getting too high. Even changing to other games may not help because I believe gambling requires a calm emotional response, else whatever we do after being upset will always tend to zero profit and more losses.

You are absolutely right, this is something a lot of gamblers find it hard to do instead they try to avert Their losses by gambling more to recover what they have lost. I remember the times I tried to get back what I lost, 80 percent of the time I lost everything 20 percent times I got it back with profit but if the times that I lost outweighs the times I won it means that I lost. Thinking about what you have lost too much can tempt you into gambling again, accept the loss and look for something else asides gambling that you can use to get the money you need.

The numbers of chances to win and recover back is way far from the chance of risking to lose more, better analysis and wise choice of your decision making to losing a lot.
