You are right, it is strictly an individual mindset to think or generalize that gambling is a short cut to poverty and considering the fact different people tend to approach gambling in different ways. However, it is not gambling itself that can make the road shorter for any one but rather the individual approach is exactly what could lead to poverty that is if the person in question is already rich and have chosen to approach gambling the wrong way, but come to think of it, from the op concepts I think the only way gambling will be a short cut to poverty is only when the person in question is already rich and decide to spend most of it in to gambling without a return instead of investing.

It is really that indeed shortcut to poverty if you do make yourself treat up gambling to be a source of income and not for leisure or for fun thing. If you do find yourself having some issues when it comes to controlling your emotions at the moment that you do play then you are really that bound on having that bad situation when it comes to financial aspect. Most gamblers do messed up their finances due to this kind of reasoning on where you will definitely be spending up tons of money on which isnt supposed to be spend up on gambling but rather in other priorities and responsibilities that you do have in life. Gambling isnt that bad literally, it is really just that make it bad on the moment that a gambler will really be having that excessive thoughts towards it and if you cant be able to control then this is where issues came from.
