The name "Pepecoin" has been exploited six ways from Sunday; this is simply one of the newer attempts to capitalize on the meme. There's nothing new or interesting about this project, and if you buy in, you'll probably lose money.

First, I do not advocate for shilling.

Second, the first PoW Pepecoin in 2016 was decentralized, but not secure. For this reason, they migrated first to PoS then to Ethereum. This Pepecoin is decentralized and secure. It is a logical "and".

Lastly, Pepecoin is a code fork of Dogecoin. The announcement was posted here on Jan. 30th, 2024.
It was forked not to say "it is a fork of Dogecoin", but because Dogecoin is an excellent blockchain, has merged mining support, is tried and tested, developers are familiar with it, and is a great starting point for Pepecoin.

The blockchain has a hashrate of 1.30PH/s. Dogecoin's hashrate, for comparison, is 1.54PH/s.

Pepecoin is very secure.

It is intended to be an alternative for people who prefer blockchains over Ethereum tokens.
