I am sure that the other contenders of the CAF men's player of the year award were already aware that they had no chance of winning this award when lookman is in the equation. It's just like African goalie of the year, even though we are Nigerians and tries to project our super eagles goal keeper who was sensational both at the AFCON and after the after, it was still evident that Williams deserves it more.
This award is whY you see and spot out credibility and not what's the case with the balon d'or when some indices that ought not to be considered is used to rule out certain player. This win for Ademola lookman is a huge one for Nigeria and for the other Nigerians like the super falcons goalie that has come out two straight times as African safest hands, it's a huge victory for the nation. The coming edition will be more fieced because moh salah will be very much a part of the equation but at the end, the fate of the winner will still hing more on what playes out at the AFCON and the coming world cup qualification.
People are just trying to be dramatic over this award. Last season was so transparent that there is no one deserving the award like Osimhen and this season, no player deserves it like Lookman but we know because it's Nigerian that's why some of them are trying to start a baseless campaign because they couldn't win. I saw Morocco fans walking out of the event when Lookman was called for the other shouting Hakeem and I was like "what!"
don't forget that the award was hosted at Morrocco and as expected, they had to be in attendance to cheer their man up with the hope that he will win the award. I'm not against them expressing their disappointment when they had their man as the next option that is available if the award was not given to lookman. my issue is some countries that went under the official page of Afcon to react angry emoji just because they don't want a Nigerian to win the African best again.
lookman is the man of the moment and certainly deserves it better than anyone else. his performance throughout the Afcon and for his club speaks volume of an incredible player he is. his personality and charisma even add to it all making him a figure you can look up to and become poud that you have him as the 001 of African football.
