Exactly! Why would Xabi Alonso see his team weaker than them and play according to that? He would always play for 3 points that's for sure. Leverkusen are a different team from now on. Not a loser team in the Bundesliga.

They have become a title contender thanks to Xabi Alonso's arrival. The previous season was extraordinary. It was so unreal that nobody should expect the exact same performance this season as well.

Maybe they first started this season badly but now they are back in solid shape being only 4 points away from the leader. Wink

At this point they really had better beat Bayern Munich home next time. It would be a big step towards a back-to-back title.

Xabi should bring Leverkusen with the target to defend the title, because somehow they can do it and with their current form they are very likely to do it. Despite the unsatisfactory results they experienced at the beginning of the season, but now they have been able to get back on track, they have won a series of wins and that is a good capital and it should make their confidence even better. In the Champions League they also performed well and they are in 4th place now, they have a big chance to go further, especially to be able to qualify directly to the round of 16. So they should have a high target now.
