If in the next match the number one team in the points table earns full points and Real Madrid earns the old points in the next match, there will still be a gap of 3 points between these two teams. Every season Real Madrid are more aggressive in Champions League matches but I didn't notice that this season especially at the beginning. Real Madrid have dropped points in several matches in the beginning so now they are failing to stay at the top of the points table. However, if Real Madrid cannot secure the second round from the top position, we can certainly expect that they will perform much better in the second round.

You are right that every season we see Real Madrid team playing more aggressively in Champions League matches but this year we haven't seen them play as aggressively as before. Real Madrid is not able to perform as well as it used to. Real Madrid lost a few matches in the beginning of this UEFA Champions League season which resulted in them not getting points in those matches i.e. they lost points. If they can win those matches then they will get points from those matches and top the points table.

Real Madrid may not be able to finish the second round from the top position as Liverpool are currently at the top of the UEFA Champions League. Liverpool's current points are very high but Real Madrid's current points are very low so it can be said for sure that Real Madrid will not be able to go to the top position.
