Thats not true , you can still use some of the old Versions of Cgminer 3.7.2 and below or some speciall SgMiner Versions below Version 5.0 for mine Scrypt or SHA-256.
I still have some Versions of a few Miningsoftware Version where i have mined back in the Days Bitcoin and Litcoin with a GPU.
But yes i agree it will take 100 years for maybe getting something out of it Cheesy
