I guess it all depends on how someone gambles... The math is clear, we need a lot of tokens to have a significant passive income, and to have a lot of tokens we have to wager a lot. While we are wagering there is a significant chance that we will end up losing a lot of money... if we don't wager enough and don't earn enough tokens and lose a few hundred (thousands in some cases I am sure) dollars it will take us a long time (years) to get any significant money from staking.
