Could it be possible that the nano x slid open and I hit the other button to turn it on, then magically entered a pin wrong 3x by my leg hitting the buttons and in addition, my leg confirming the wrong password 3x by the required simultaneous 2 button push ?
Everything is possible with ledger nono X, this is one of the worst hardware wallets I ever saw in my life, and it's closed source so you don't know what is happening under the hood.
There is also possibility that device reset itself because of low temperature, it is well known fact they have terrible cheap batteries in this devices.
1) Is my device compromised now that I had to actually enter the recovery phrase into the device?
Probably not, unless someone else replaced your device with malicious device that look identical like yours, or if they tempered with your device.
4) Is my device safe or not? I need to know whether to dump my crypto somewhere else and find a new device.
All closed source hardware wallets including ledger are not safe enough, compared to open source hardware wallets (trezor, passport, keystone, satochip, etc.)
