If he borrowed the money to make the bet I would imagine he probably got suicided more than he committed suicide.  That seems like a drastic action to take for someone who can come up with millions of dollars to make a bet.  Still, this is a warning that maybe you shouldn't bet more than you can afford to lose and remember that gambling is entertainment, not a job.

I do not support betting on large amounts. $2.5 million is a very large amount. Was there a need to bet on such a large amount? I think he must be spending all his money on gambling. He is bankrupt, that is why he took a difficult decision like suicide.

We should never be overly greedy. It is possible to make money from gambling, but it is also very easy to lose money through gambling. We should not bet such an amount of money that if we lose, we will face financial losses. We can invest money in gambling in addition to our daily living expenses.

The reason why a lot of people bet with high amounts like this is because they are greedy, they might have probably had huge wins with small amounts of money in the past so they get tempted to use a huge stake to attract a huge reward forgetting the fact that gambling isn't really predictable. For him to lose 2.5 million dollars means that he must have gambled with highly significant amounts of money because no One can be stupid enough to use that amount on a single bet. It still doesn't change the fact that it was a wreckless thing to do. You can only gamble this way if you know that there's a way to get that money back.
