It didn't actually matter if you were going to use, or not going to use it. A simple DYOR, and reading about it, would have been enough.

So, yeah, Pmalek pointed the worst argument. Being closed-source for me is the biggest red flag. I don't mean that anything open-source is necessarily good, but at least I can view and verify myself if it's good or not.
