It's gambling, not trading or investing, so your confidence means nothing in gambling.

It's game of probability and luckiness, and whether you are very confident, it does not increase your probability to win with your bets.
With gambling, confidence is not important, the important factor is gambling responsibility. You must afford to lose your gambling capital, but even so you must gamble very responsibly to minimize your potential loss.

It’s same with investing or trading when it comes to confidence with gambling. He is describing sports betting not a luck based games which means his confidence has basis depending on the match he is betting.

I do it as a gambler too. I place low amount of bet if I think I just want to try my luck on risky bet since I don’t have much confidence that it will win while I put high amount on matches that has high potential of winning based on my analysis.
