Even if Elon Musk has not been appointed by anyone or has not even directly elected by the people of the United States to be part of the administration of that country, it is clear those who voted for Trump did not have any problem with the endorsement and the involvement of Musk into American politics, actually, there were many people who explicitly voted for Trump because of the endorsement and support he started to get from Elon, they are perfectly comfortable with the country stepping into oligarchy territory, which is kind of scary.

One also must wonder why Musk would like to have access to such information... He and Trump could be planning to execute a nationwide purge of public employees, as explained in project 2025, in which those who do not politically align with Trump vision for the country would likely be kicked out their position and replaced by yes people.

In addition, this kind of thing was done all over the place by Presidents of all time, and mostly by Biden. Consider that virtually all the workers in the various agencies are not elected.
