Lightning strike?  Something similar happened to a colleague of mine - furnace was out, stereo pooched, router fried.  He only figured it out because there was a tiny bit of tracking along the concrete coming from the foot of one one of the feet of his airtight stove where he also noticed some tiny balls of metal.
