I believe binance were able to cover the losses in full and continue operation because of the amount that was lost, it was not an amount that would lead to their collapse. However, take note that funds are not safu if you store them in binance, if they get hit with a serious security breach and lose a lot of money, it would be trouble for anyone who stores their funds in binance.
