Gamble when you do not have other activities as it will help you stay calm too and you will not be in a rush to go do other things therefore making a mistake.

Well, if I understand the op correctly, he never said he's not or never calm when selecting game(s) to bet on, he said that he is always uncalm when the match of the game he betted on is in play, and this happens whether he is available or not to watch the match.

Personally, I would say that he is simply anxious to see that his bet wins, and maybe you are definitely right in the regard that this may something to do with the amount of money he possibly have staked on the bet, maybe it's always an amount of money he is not ready to lose, if this be the case, then he must try to readjust himself and learn to only stake an amount of money he is completely comfortable losing, this will definitely go a long way in helping him to remain calm and not mind what ever the outcome of the game will or might be.
