Well, that's another thing. An addict will deny being one. Therefore, they'll use any excuse, like in this case.

I think thats accurate on both comments.

Either the addicted person is in denial when they say they gamble for fun or
they are ashamed because they know the stigma attached to being an
addicted gambler.

The main aim or driving force to gambling is to make a profit and quickly.
IMO anyone gambling for fun can go an extended period of not gambling
at a y time they choose and do so regularly. To counter that anyone who
cannot do that is not doing it for fun, its addiction
