To win the match, Real Madrid actually only needs 1 goal and survive until the end of the match without conceding. But when a team can score more than 1 goal, the chances of winning can increase even though the opposing team can score a goal in return. I think Real Madrid tried to score more goals in that match, but Girona played quite well in defense. But that's not a problem, 2-0 is enough to keep Barcelona at a distance.
