That's correct.

In fact, all the previous attempts to create "Bitcoin" before Bitcoin were somehow stopped by a government.

The main different in the case of Bitcoin is that it is truly decentralized, so there's no "head" to stop. There's no one to stop so that Bitcoin stops.

Bitcoin will continue forever, as it's a protocol, not a "company".
