People use android wallet without any complaints. And to be honest I haven't heard of any hack on android wallet and that is a sign that android wallet is not a bad choice for storing your bitcoin. But I must suggest that your seed phrase should be stored offline and not on any device that is linked to the internet. As a newbie i'v had the initiative of storing my seed phrase on a device but not online device probably a flash drive of hard disk drive but it also came to my understanding that these type of device could fail, and for a HDD a small magnetic radiation could wipe out all the information stored in it. And I'v also had flash drive that stopped working all of a sudden without any pre-notice. However android wallet are good for storing your coin.
