Tbh is not easy to stop especially when you are addicted to it , one of the best time to stop is when you haven’t gotten deep in to it , but sometimes in some situations is best you stop for good or have some break bed gambling can actually mess with you when it’s not being approached wisely , it will be killing yah slowly without noticing it because all you care about is to win more not what the crave is doing to you ( of wanting more or trying to cover losses ) .
It is true that when a gambler is addicted to gambling, it is not easy to get out of that addiction, but a gambler cannot be careful before he becomes addicted to gambling, before he becomes addicted, he considers gambling as normal, and keeps gambling regularly, but gradually the addiction starts entering the gambler, and at one stage the gambler becomes completely addicted and after being addicted, the gambler cannot understand that he is heading towards destruction. Because an addicted gambler cannot understand the right thing while gambling, and every time he loses, his emotions become deeper, and he keeps gambling more. So if a gambler can be careful from the beginning, and can abide by the limitations, then he can always remain normal, otherwise he will become addicted and lose everything.
The two things which makes gamblers to become addicted to gamble are:
Gambling to make money.
Risking what you can not afford to lose.

Gamblers with the intention of making money through gamble becomes addicted to gamble because they will/might chase their losses as they are not gambling for fun.
Gambling addictions doesn't start in a day because it's a kind of thing which a gambler develops gradually and with time it gets use to them, then they do not see themselves as addicted gamblers either.
