It goes against the policy of "One ICC tourney every year" and they are committed to milk it so for now, it's not going anywhere.
Makes sense. They already planned several ODI World Cups in advance and assigned them to different nations around the world. Am a lot more interested in the T20 World Cups that take place every 2 years instead.
If the ODI format were scrapped, just imagine the drastic uptick in ICC T20 and Test tournaments. Shame that will probably never happen.
Guess, ICC tournaments are lined up for the next 5-6 years.
All said and done, my only issue is "ICC tourney fatigue" and if I am being honest, then more so with the T20 WC.
Salman Ali may not be an ideal candidate for captaincy but who else to chose? Babar, Rizwan already tested as Captain and they are dropped due to poor performance. It's time to give new comers chance, with time they will learn and may be Pakistan can finally find the right playing XI.
That's a biggie and hard to choose because all candidates look mediocre to me. In 2022-23 I had some hope in Shadab but he seems to have lost his marbles as well.
