Re: Made me think about how we actually store stuff these days

I was organizing some old files the other day, photos, random PDFs, a few videos and realized I had no idea where half of them were. Google Drive, some random hard drive, maybe iCloud? No clue. Everything’s so scattered.
This could be a skill issue though. No matter what method of storage you use, as long as you are organized enough you can always find your files. These platforms we use are not responsible for organizing our files. they just store it. It is up to us to group the files we find important. I have never lost a file I know I put in a specific folder.

Then I came across this project called Walrus that’s trying to do decentralized storage differently. Not in a loud, flashy way but it’s more about making storage usable in real time, like for stuff people actually interact with. PDFs, videos, whatever. And making it programmable, like you can build around it.
I do find some platforms efficient enough but a platform that is decentralized is very intriguing. Despite some of the existing platforms being efficient, there is still worry since they have access to all your files. But decentralization can be the solution for that. Interested to know more about this.
