Maybe I just don't get it... Is Trump playing 4D chess? I need someone to explain how Tariffs are going to make America great again?

Plenty are, if you care to look. I can't vouch for them but if you think Trump is just putting tariffs on just for the sake of having tariffs, you need to reconsider your news sources.

Is it a good idea? I don't know. It's an attempt to address something that Trump has been complaining about since the 80s. I guess we'll get to see...

Politically, for a small chance of this to work, you would need to drastically cut other taxes (imho, this most likely would be stage 2), because you would be essentially paying tax on consumption via increased prices that are basically, would be equivalent to VAT on foregnforeign goods.

re "no foreign taxes" on bitcoin...miners were forced to pay 35% tax since long time ago, before Bitmain shifted some production from china to Malaysia.
"they" might have concoct something on "foreign-bought bitcoin", but this would be difficult to implement.
