I might be wrong but I think I heard Carlo Ancelleti saying that Real Madrid doesn't need any player in the January transfer season. It might be that he had so much confidence in the available players or he was working based on the club's budget. I think not having sound replacements for several injured players affected the club's performance right from the Group stage.

Hansi Flick is just a genius because he has been to maximize the limited resources that the club has to get resounding results.
