AThe title says almost everything about this.

Genetic testing company 23andMe announced on Sunday that it has filed for bankruptcy due to low demand for its ancestry kits and after a 2023 data breach damaged its reputation.

The company, which has over 15 million customers worldwide, said it voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to “facilitate a sale process to maximize the value of its business.” 23andMe received permission from a judge to try to sell its most valuable asset — customers’ DNA data, Bloomberg reported.

23andMe originally set a deadline of May 7 for potential buyers to submit final offers. But a U.S. bankruptcy judge, Brian C. Walsh, wanted to allow creditors more time to analyze the deal before a final decision, and ordered a two-week extension at the company’s first bankruptcy hearing in St. Louis this week. 23andMe agreed to delay the final court hearing from June 2 to June 17.

California’s attorney general is urging consumers to delete their genetic data from their 23andMe accounts.
I don't know if anyone here has a connection with this business but it's better to follow similar method of deleting your data from their accounts.

When I saw this I was stunned on why the court literally gave them the go ahead, after all their bankruptcy came when they had data breached. There are many potential dangers this may cause to customers as time passed.
