I think you mentioned you tie up some coins doing all this.
But if you really want access back to the btc how fast does it take to get it back?
All it takes is an on-chain transaction. Closing a channel and get those funds to your wallet with 3 confirmations takes maybe 30 minutes, depending on the fee you choose and the mempool activity.
Opening a channel is the same, it's an on-chain transaction. Let's say I open a 0.1 btc
channel with peer A. Now those funds are locked up and free to move to my other channels for a small fee, set by me. The channel is free to be closed at any time, by either me or my channel peer. After that, the funds will be available for me again.
So I don't risk losing any funds, but they are all tied up as long as I keep the channel open.
