That's actually what gamblers should do, but most people can't do it, some because they can't control their emotions once they lose, some because they want to have some fun when they win, so they go ahead and increase their bets. The ones who had lost do it to recover their losses, and the ones who won do it to experiment with the money they've already won, only to see if they can win more with it or not. However, as you said, it's carelessness, and one should be aware of the possible outcomes and then decide whether they want to do it or not.

Usually, those who do it for fun or experiment wouldn't be bothered much even if they lose, but the ones who double it because they've just lost the previous bet and want to recover their money, they will have a hard time letting it go and going back to their original betting amount because now they have lost more money and they want to recover that as well.

Once you dont have that such control then you are that bound on experiencing up the worst specially on affecting out your financial condition. Double when you win? thats a sign of greediness on which we know that its been always the bad thing specially when dealing up with gambling. Same goes with on doubling your bet amount when you do lose then this shows that you are already that addicted into it because you cant just that accept that you would be having that loses on that particular time then it do shows that you have lost your sane at the moment that you do experience loses on which this is the most cases on which people or gamblers do able to experience on. The best thing to do is always be considerate into the amount that you are currently that being doing and not just that making yourself that going or proceeding without having those risks management or simply handling up with your entire gambling capital or bankroll. Once you do make yourself being impulsive or becoming that too naive or numb about financial handling then it will be resulting into those regrets later on on which at the moment that you are experiencing financial struggles or unfortunate conditions then this is when the time that you do find yourself having no money left to get into your pocket and already affecting overall your finances. Gambling should be fun and entertaining and not something that becomes stressful or something that could make your life miserable. Never make yourself having that kind of mentality that gambling could make you rich or making it as a source of income because once you do then this what pushes you to play further and wont stop as long you do have the money into your account account or pocket then you will still continue on what you are currently doing. So its good that you should be wary into the actions that you are taking rather than on becoming impulsive.
