A friend told me that every politician derive a new definition of politics the moment they get a position in power. Indeed no one has ever gotten a political post without the help of other people, not just the godfather, who have special interests why they issued assistance during the election period. It could be for business growth or contract manipulation during the regime, and it's wrong on the leader's end to avoid his party members, as he'd require them in the next coming election. So, the economy of a nation revolves mostly around those in political power, while the voters have to wish for a better leader someday.

To be fair, I have never seen a democratic process where you can get into a position without other politicians helping you. If you have ever been interested in politics in real life as in actually try to be in politics instead of just watch or read it, you will see that most people start from youth organizations, or they are rich.

That means, you end up with a political network and that's how you improve, if you end up with a political network then you end up with people end up making more money that way and you could consider getting richer in the sense that you are going to get those richer too. What this basically means, they tell you "we will give you X power, if you use that to vote with us" and that's how it works. If you do that then you are going to grow, otherwise you won't.
