I can't tell you anything about football because I don't have much idea about it but overall in learning about sports I got something to say:

You must be passionate about sports, which I believe comes from environment you grew up in, and then with passion, watching and keeping track of it comes naturally, which will result in knowledge and hereon you'll be able to take part in discussions with knowledge obtained.

Learning sports takes a lot of discipline and a lot of time, like you said it's something that deals with being passionate, it might be frustrating from the beginning but as time goes on you'd become more skillful and better with it. This isn't hard at all it just requires certain level of seriousness for as the gambler, the knowledge acquired helps a lot. Bettors who take advantage of it don't lose too much
