It seems both posts are on the right board. Off-topic and Politics & Society boards are to discuss notnon crypto-related discussions. Both boards serve different purposes, though they sound similar.
In the off-topic board you can start discussing anything that's non-crypto. You can share your love story, jokes, your childhood and anything that has entertainment purposes. So I don't feel there are any limitations for discussion; you can write whatever you want that follows forum standards.
On the other hand, the Politics & Society board itself described the purpose. You can start discussing elections, war and societal issues. This means this board has limits on discussion.
