I'd consider myself an ETH OG, but honestly, it all comes down to what you're building. Every chain has its strengths and weaknesses. Mind sharing a bit more about what you're working on?
This is the correct answer. One should not just pick any chain because it is cheap, at that point you might as well go and build on some almost dead altcoins.

What kind of audience you expect from Avalanche? Because from what i see, their trade volume isn't much from last 30 days.
High trading volume will not lead to a high audience. You are mistaken.

Imho only valid reason for moving to less popular chains is lack of competition, but then you are definitely missing out possibility of bigger markets as well.
This is wrong. You can't just build any kind of project anywhere. Picking a popular chain does not guarantee success at all. Do you even know that 99.9% crypto projects fail?  Grin

1. You're right. I just add something to that. I'm a simple developer and not a crypto expert. I'm trying to learn how these markets work. So this is somehow trial and error on what chain might be more suitable for my project.
2. I kind of disagree, a chain with low trade volume seems like a bad place to unexperienced (and even experienced) eyes. They may lose traction.
3. Basically people try to increase their chance by picking more popular communities I suppose.
