Your friend added the 2FA and Electrum generated 2FA seed phrase for him. The wallet can not be converted to non-2FA.
Tell him to use the seed phrase to recover the wallet, he will see where he will by-pass the 2FA.
He should click on wallet with two-factor authentication -> I already have a seed. He shouldpastpaste the seed and click on next. He will see this:
Click on disable to bypass it.
