There are some opinions that with government intervention and more and more regulations being tightened, people will tend to turn to DEX to protect their privacy. From there the demand for DEX will increase and its market share will also increase. Anything that hinders or affects their goals, they will seek to eliminate just like they eliminate mixers. So I don't think DEX will be treated fairly or can compete fairly with CEX.
CEX will continue to dominate the market and people will tend to use it more because not many people want to go against the government.

It would also be worth noting that with more funding - CEXes would still be more convenient than DEXes, and it wouldn't change, though, if the regulations would become tighter and tighter - it wouldn't matter that much.
