Russia, Ukraine agreed to exchange 1,000 POWs from each side, Ukrainian Defence Minister says

Why are you not happy that these negotiations led to the largest prisoner exchange with prospect of further negotiations? Would you rather that it didn't happen?
Exchange of POW's is only thing achieved in this negotiations, but it's not big deal. Since the beginning of war exchange of POW's between Russia and Ukraine was quite regular and surprisingly fluent thing. It's not that I would rather that it didn't happened, but it's something what was achieved without negotiations.

Sure, but not this many, plus you still need both sides to negotiate even about POW exchanges, still not seeing the downside of this. Plus there are prospects for further negotiations. I understand that you'd rather see more quicker, what i don't understand is why are you against these small steps that might eventually lead up to peace?

This is how Russia "wants" to reach to reach peace. Sending some guys who don't have power to decide anything is just waste of time. But I expected similar scenario. Maybe Trump finally will realize who actually want to reach peace. But for now we have situation which is leading nowhere.

Is that what you want to happen or you honestly assess that there's over 50% chance that in the next month Trump will do 180 turn and will start lobbying his party republicans to send more weapons and aid to Ukraine (instead of just walking away as his team keep saying)?
If we talk just about bolded part, I had zero expectations that these negotiations will achieve something, what actually happened today. You simply can't achieve anything with some 3rd tier forgotten politicians. Something can be achieved only when Putin, Zelensky and probably Trump will face to face. Though, still not sure that it would give results.
When it comes to Trump, you always can expect the unexpected from him. Maybe he won't make a 180 turn, but I don't believe that he simply will walk away as it was said multiple times.

Exchanging prisoners is good. Calling this a negotiation is not. For what has come out Ruzzia said exactly the same things they have been saying for years - which is, as one may suspect, not acceptable to Ukraine. Basically talking anexation, conditions, etc... basically a surrender.

So, then Ruzzian "diplomacy" went into the usual "double down", something like if you do not give us what we want, next time we ask for another 2 regions or whatever.

Well, it seems that Trump may speak with Putin, but I think he understands a bit more about "Ruzzian diplomacy" and did not want to travel to Turkiye to have his name associated with a failed negotiation. Let's see how this plays, Ukraine may after all get some more decissive help - I am not betting the house but...

Can't exchange prisoners without some kind of negotiation, exchanging bodies on humanitarian grounds also need negotiations for both sides to agree, did you really not know this too?

And that's not true too, Russian's are not saying exactly the same thing
In 2021 Russia was saying no NATO, and protection of Russian language, culture and speakers in Ukraine
In 2022 Russia was saying no NATO, and protection of Russian language, culture and speakers in Ukraine and Crimea
In 2023 Russia was saying no NATO, and protection of Russian language, culture and speakers in Ukraine, Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk
In 2025 Russia is saying no NATO, and protection of Russian language, culture and speakers in Ukraine, Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia

But i'm sure if Ukraine keeps following Boris's advise, (since clearly he just cares so much about Ukrainian people, and doesn't have his own motives) this trend will somehow magically become a positive for Ukraine, any day now, just keep selling hope, and screw the cost right?  Roll Eyes ...

Nothing meaninfull. Same old same old. Withdraw you troops from the four territories Ruzzia has unilaterly decided belong to the Moscow regime, reduce the army to a ridiculous size, renounce any chance of getting under the NATO umbrella... and then the threat of an "eternal war" and even bigger demands.

The rest... semantics and propaganda "Protect Ruzzian speakers.." LOL, Ruzzian speakers need protection from Putin.

Russia is advancing. Something like 1,000 dead Ukrainian troops in the last week. Russian fortifications being built strong in regions of Ukraine that have been taken. Seems that Russia might be aiming to take all of Europe, simply because of the West's stubbornness to get out of Ukraine.

Cool

I am not even going to look at the link. There isn't anything that Putin can do that will "shock" anyone at this day and age.

Ruzzia is advancing - yes - and there are people dead - o both sides and typically more on the attacking side. But let's see how that Ruzzian advance is going. This is from 2022 and the second from today. Let's see Ruzzian advance:

2022:

Today:
https://understandingwar.org/sites/default/files/Russo-Ukrainian%20War%20May%2018%2C%202025.png

I hope you brought lense with you to see the changes. You would however not need them to see the number of dead... like a million for Ruzzia and up everyday. I guess Putin is all right with the result. Or, more likely, he has painted himself in a corner and now cannot leave Ukraine alone.

Almost all the dead have to do with certain wealthy bank owners trying to take Russia away from the Russians... to take all the lands away from whoever own them.

I don't blame you for not watching the video. It's almost 2 hours long. Unless you are really into the history of the Russia/Ukraine area of the world, why waste the time? But it would show you what is really going on in the European and Western Asia parts of the world, and how far it has penetrated even into the US. And it isn't what you think; backed up by DNA and linguistics, and symbols in flags and country SEALS.

Russia is advancing because the world wealthy people won't leave them alone. Hundreds of years ago Slavs had to fight the wealthy... and overcame them twice. This time Russia might have to take them all out just to get peace.

Cool

This is false information, Ruzzia is currently governed by plutocrats that are, by any standard, uber rich. They are not against any global elite, they are the global elite.
