As far as I know, Google relies on popularity, brand...while top companies are spending a lot of money to promote their brands. So, it's no surprise those search results.
Google doesn't tell you anything of their own, they only tell you what the brands you are researching about is saying about their own products. If coinbase describe their wallets as the best, that is what google is going to show you since coinbase is a trusted brand. I have seen scams getting good review from google without them knowing that what they are talking about is a scam. The research on Google is now being over taken by AI and AI do not generate anything of their own but only gives you what it consider the best answer from all the information that is already on the internet. If we want to get genuine results from the question we ask, we have to trust platforms like Bitcointalk and not Google.
Yes, Google and other search engines and even social media is influenced by algorithm. So, since it is being viewed or written about, it keeps being suggested and that's more popular it will become.
As for Op's example, what is displayed their is the marketing choice of coinbase. It is not the duty of google to verify those claims. In this industry, it is our duties to do our own research.
Meanwhile as sweetness said above, those type of false information can be avoided if we get information from highly niched forums like this one.
