I agree with you, Chelsea will perform better than Nottingham forest in the champions league, and I like the idea of Chelsea qualifying for the champions league. Chelsea were just dedicated to end the season in top 5, and they were able to achieve that.

Seven of their eleven defeats came in the second half of the season. Many thought Nottingham Forest would be able to create a surprise, after they had survived for quite a long time in the top four of the standings. Since entering the second half of the season, when the intensity of the competition began to increase, Nottingham Forest actually started to lose a lot of points. Finishing in 7th place in the standings and getting a ticket to the Europa Conference League is actually not too bad.

Chelsea should have been able to do better, become a title contender, not just be satisfied with finishing in the Champions League zone. But after going through two turbulent seasons, since the Todd Boehly era began, Chelsea now look ready to return to their best form. Enzo Maresca managed to push Chelsea to win two important wins towards the end of the season, one of which was a victory over Nottingham Forest.
