It was a passing phase, a fad. NFT artists & creators made a lot of money. Lots of people got fleeced for a lot of money that they will never make back. NFTs are useless, they offer nothing, it’s just a massive scam. Similar to the ICO craze of 2017, NFTs were the trap of the last bull run. Be careful & don’t be a sheep.
Thing i have learned is nothing in this space is a passing fade, it just reshapes and comes back. After first ICO frenzy people said that we have learned our lesson now, but only lesson to learn from that is that we are going to be a gullible bunch in the future as well. ICOs were selling blockchains as solutions to anything, while they didn't solve any of those real life problems.
Scams and grifts rely on ignorance, and we are basically sold concepts that majority in here don't understand how they work. And that just keeps repeating because some of them grow during hype, so people think they are working, even if we didn't understand how.
When NFTs were huge, i saw several people arguing that we should rebrand NFTs as collectable art. That made me roll my eyes, as people somehow forgot that it was a protocol that could link tokens to anything. It was never about pictures, yet all people used it for was pictures. That's like saying ETH should be called digital money, just because it's worth something.
Now there's some hype around RWA's but people don't seem to get that underlying tech isn't there yet at all. People think RWAs are a thing, while they have been selling us synthetics that only represent the value all the time.
I could keep on going, but i would probably miss out a lot of them as i lack knowledge of most of them.
